Advanced Stylus will be used as MOUSE, NOT FINGER

Apple's newly patented Advanced Stylus won't be used on the screen of any of product. It will be used like a mouse is, i.e. on a desk.

It will serve as a pointer, NOT as a Nintendo DS sort of stylus.

WHY?

Because it's main feature is Pressure Sensing. That means IT senses how hard you're pressing, not the iPad.

Furthermore, if people used them on the glass screen of an iPad and pressed too hard, the glass would Shatter.

And Smart Cover could be stylus "mouse mat"!

The smart cover is just PERFECT for a mouse mat. It would make perfect sense if Apple made the stylus dependent upon the smart cover.

So, basically it'll function like a Wacom tablet, but without the tablet part?

I can see that, but I don't think Apple will do that. Why not? Because there's a huge learning curve to transition from a mouse to a pen.

Except that pressure sensing pens are hardly anything new to the world of tablets; On all tablets that employ Wacom or similar technology, it is the pen that senses pressure, NOT the screen. That information is relayed wirelessly to the device.

You don't have to press very hard on a pressure sensing pen. They can detect very slight differences.

And I dont see why it will not work at all.... Steve Jobs was against styluses, but Tim Cook is probably not. Just make it with a semi-soft rubberized tip, and you get pressure sensing and it wont scratch your screen. Plus, I dont think many people will shatter an iPhone screen with this. That would take some 40lbs of pressure in one spot alone. Not idiot would do that, would they? On an iPad it would take less force, just due to the size of the screen.
