So, tonight my bro and I were getting a movie when all of the sudden I wanted to show him a song off of my iPhone. I plugged it into his iPod car system (I had success getting the iPhone to work on an iHome, and that the coolness would carry over into his car system) at most, I thought that I would get the usual "This accessory does not work with iPhone" message, but instead I was blasted with my screen going different colors.

After many restarts, the iPhone finally came back to life, but with a "Please connect iPhone to iTunes for activation message." So, I called Apple tech support. They got it working, but now my iPhone freezes a lot, or at least its network doesn't work after a second of leaving it alone. PLEASE HELP, and if not, then take this advice DON'T PLUG IN THE IPHONE TO ANY IPOD CAR SYSTEMS! (Note: It did work for a while, that is, the iPhone in the car system)

UPDATE: Now the speaker is broken on the earpiece! CRAP! NOOOOOOOOOOO! HELP!

Have you tried another complete restore? If that doesn't fix it then it may have to be sent into apple... Restore's have fixed all my big issues. Granted I have not had issues with the speaker or anything of that nature.

I think "never" is quite an overreaction - and an unnecessary warning. There are many, car dock interfaces which work with the iPhone.

I know one case personally where compatibility was improved through one of the iPhone firmware updates.

Strange. I use my iPhone with the Pioneer AVIC-D3 iPod cable all the time and have never seen any strange problems.

my iphone works for the most part in my BMW with DICE ipod hookup. Thank god it didn't fry my phone. Good luck with the genius.

Ditto... I use my Monster iCarPlay Wireless with my iPhone... The best thing ever invented. Instant stereo sound in any vehicle, with any iPod/iPhone, and no risky grounding wires!

I have noticed a problem using my iPhone with my Kensington FM transmitter/charger for iPods..

Although it works with the iPhone, it keeps resetting the date back to 1901 and time to 01:00 whenever I plug it into the car.

I then have to manually reset the date/time after using it..

PITA..

Anyone know a way round this please?

Or recommend an ipod fm transmitter/charger which works 100% with the iPhone?

Thanks

The iCarPlay Wireless Plus is supposed to work with both the iPod and the iPhone. I have just the iCarPlay Wireless, but without the plus thing... It works 100% with the iPhone... No issues, other than a bit fuzzy workings around ollllld power lines.

I've experienced no issues with date, time, or anything.

When a call, text message or email comes in whilst listening with the device through your car speakers, the sound dims down and plays the appropriate tone for the event through your car speakers. Whenever you're done with your call, it automatically starts the music back playing.

I paid around $70 for mine, but you could prolly find it for quite less on Amazon & the like.

isn't the iphone set to automagically query the time / date server? I sold my iphone so I cannot remember if you need to check a box for it to do that but that should fix the time date issue. granted that is a pain and it should NOT do that in the first place, but, having the phone auto set the date/time should at least allow you to notice it less...

LOL, "DON'T PLUG IN THE IPHONE TO ANY IPOD CAR SYSTEMS!," huh? Works fine and has since July with my Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod interface... The only problem is, it won't charge the iPhone. Anyone else have this problem?

P.S stop being so irrational and overgeneralizing your problem.

P.P.S I also get that warning about, ""This accessory does not work with iPhone."

using automatic or manual makes no difference. It still gets reset.
Whether its a bug I'm not sure.

i second that , not only stoped working and can not charge the phone anymore, also lost the wi-fi of the phone in the period of all the rests.
so do not use car charges

You said your earpiece isnt working. That happens to alot of us. If you had a headphone jack plugged in, it may be because the iphone doesnt recognize that it was unplugged. Play with the jack by pulling in and out. You can check if the earpiece is working if the iphone is able to play music through the speaker.

I plug mine into a car setup everyday without issue.

My Audi A4 has no issues with the iPhone nor does my wifes car.

iSimple has a fantastic setup that can be purchased at best buy..

it plugs to the back of the factory stereo bus system, and in some cases, can display track info etc on your stereo. It also powers the iPhone just fine, with no GSM interference which is nice.

This one time I tripped on a step. DO NOT USE STEPS PEOPLE, YOU WILL TRIP.
