I currently have an aging eMac and a newer MacBook, I'm considering selling the eMac soon and getting a 20" ACD in it's place.
I can then use the macbook as both my portable and desktop machine.

Particuarly people with experience here, is this a good plan?
My main concern right now having never delt with external displays before is with resolution, will my macbook only do 1280 800 on the bigger display or the whole 1680 1050 that a 20" ACD can display?

thanks

it will do the whole 1680 x 1050. I have a MacBook Pro, and a 20" Widescreen Viewsonic monitor, that i use in the same setup at home. Actually, i use the 20" as my main screen, and the 15-inch on my MBP as a place to store palettes, itunes, and Mail. Hopefully will be upgrading to a 24 or 30 incher soon.
