Good morning.
I had bought M1 iMac 24" after its release, then I had to switch my 2019 Macbook Pro 16" because of the "back to offices" thing.

Yesterday, MBP's screen was cracked, and it's totally black now. I checked ebay/aliexpress/etc.. for the screen and it would cost me £600-650. I am not sure it will worth it. Configuration was i7/16GB/512 version. I cannot use it via external monitor since I have iMac (literally no space).

I need a piece of advice, is there a cheaper way to fix MBP, or should I sell it directly with current screen? What you'll in my situation?

Many thanks.

There’s not really any good options here due to these laptops being pretty new and the lack of availability of used parts. Unfortunately either way it looks like you’ll take a hit for the cost of the screen (whether you pay for replacement or sell as is).

Have you taken it into the Apple store for a quote? It shouldn’t be much more than sourcing a screen separately. I’d rather pay a bit more and have the warranty from Apple than sourcing my own screen

I couldn't check the price in Apple store, because of the national holiday here. As far as I can search on web, it costs $755 in the USA. I believe it isn't worth replacing it.

Contact Apple to see how much they would charge you to repair and also get a quote from a certified Apple tech. Weigh your options versus how much you'd get selling it "as-is" and getting an M1.

Hi again! Many thanks for the replies.

I checked with Apple, and they requested £660 (~$823) for the screen replacement.(Actually it is the whole top lid)
I bought a Chinese brand portable 4K USB-C display (the best one in amazon according to reviews), but really don't like it. Contrast was awful and reds are kind of coral/orange. So, I returned it back to amazon.
Another issue is, MBP was burning with an external display, fans were noisy and top part of the keyboard was really hot!

Desperate situation for me now...

I would again advise you fix it thru Apple.
To summarise, issue is like fix it thru Apple or sell it.
New screen/lid is £660, sell thru ebay is ~£400. I can buy base M1 13.3" MBP for £1100.
(Not planning to buy it, just to give you projection.)
