Hi all,

After I updated my iPhone 4S 64 GB to iSO 7.0.4 and JB the only problem I had was that Music didn't want to sync via iTunes. The iTunes claimed that all was OK but on my iPhone the Music app had "No Content".

I managed to fix that (please check this thread):

"Music shows "No Content" after JB and data restore..."

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1692707/

but afterwards 16 GB "Other" appeared on my iPhone!

In iOS 6.1.2 my "Other" was 1 GB which is considered normal / regular.

I strongly believe that was the 1 GB of normal "Other" + my 15 GB Music collection that wasn't synced properly!

So... how to remove that orphaned failed music sync that causes the 15 GB of "Other"?

Thanks in advance for all help!

If you haven't downloaded anything to your phone or copied anything to your phone via any other means than iTunes i I found the only really way to get rid of other is to un-sync and re-sync so if you believe it the music go into iTunes and untick the music then sync the phone once if that removes the other then tick the music in iTunes and re-sync it again should solve the problem if removing the music doesn't remove the other try the same with all the other options in iTunes..

Its a long winded process but seems to work

Hi all,

I un-ticked the music and re-synced via iTunes.

Several things happened:

#1
My current 15 GB Music collection was deleted and 15 GB of free space was created on my iPhone.

#2
Then, for a brief second, the 16 GB "Other" was divided to:

1 GB "Other" (just as it should be)
15 GB Music

#3
Then it reverted back to 16 GB "Other"

This firmly confirms that improperly synced Music library is the cause for my problem!

So... how can I manually and safely delete improperly synced Music from my iPhone (I do have iFile)?

Hi all,

Help yourself! :)

With iFile I went to:

/private/var/mobile/media/iTunes_Control/Music

and deleted everything.

Then I ticked the Music syncing back and re-synced Music back with iTunes!

The 15 GB that was in "Other" is now free! :D
