Hi to all,

I am currently using a mid 2007 mini with 4gb of ram. Like everyone else I have been waiting for the new minis to be announced for quite some time now. I must say I am pretty disappointed that there is no quad option. Honestly I am not sure if that is such a big deal with what I want to and have been doing with my mini. Anyway below is what I plan on using the new mini for.
I would love to know if any of the new minis are a good option for me. If not I would love to hear what kind of system would be. I guess even a windows setup, but that is the last thing I want to do. My budget is around 1k.

This is what I plan on using it for

1) Recording music with garageband. I also plan on moving onto Logic. I already do this on my mini with garageband, but it seems to be very limited with what it can do resource wise.

2) Create and edit youtube videos as well as home movies. I do this now with imovie but it is a chore due to performance issues.

3) Edit photo's both jpeg and raw using iphoto and lightroom/photoshop. I use iphoto now and it does not really work editing raw files. The system tends to hang.

Thanks in advance,

Later versions of iMovie can utilize four cores. Depending on your use case this alone would make more cores ideal. I can't speak to the other tasks.

Thanks. I will have to wait and see what is in stock come Xmas time. Just trying to get my research done.

Thanks again,
