Hey

I'm looking to buy a used iMac and want to make sure all of the hardware works as it should. Advice on the steps I should take to ensure that would be greatly appreciated.
More specifically it's a less than a 1 year old 27" i7 2017 iMac which is posted at a great discount, due to broken glass at the very top corners of the screen. This especially is why I want to know nothing else got broken in the obvious impact. The seller claims everything works perfectly however if anyone has thoughts on the screen, please I'm all ears.

Cheers

P.S. Did a cursory search for a guide on buying a used mac from a private individual in a f2f-transaction. Nothing popped up, ergo this thread. (If s1 has a link to such a guide on Macrumors that I overlooked, please let me know)

Doesn't even look like it damaged the screen, just the glass bezel in the corners.
Dunno, check if it boots OK, check if the specs are what they say, check if Wifi and bluetooth works, the camera/mic, usb ports etc. Make sure there's no unusual noises coming from the iMac. From the two pictures it only looks like cosmetic damage, the actual screen itself looks perfectly intact.

Ye that's what I figured as well and indeed everything seems to work well. As such I'm now a happy owner of an iMac on the cheap :)

Check whether the corners of the screen is getting displayed properly and ensure the boot. If it is just cosmetic damage, go for it if you are getting a good deal.
