Hi - I think it's easy to conclude that the 4th Gen nano is being replaced with something new with a camera. I was hoping forum members could help me out with how to most economically purchase TWO 4th G's for my gradeschool children.

I'd like to do this before school starts in about a week and I don't beleive the fifth generation will be out yet - that's ok, because I don't see the kids needing the camera and I'm thinking that would get them into trouble on the bus anyway!

But I sure would like to take advantage of the money-back offer if a price drop in 14 days. Do you think this is likely with apple when the new nanos come out? Is this waht typically happens?

Apple store has the nano for $149, and a referb for $99 presently. IS either more likely than other to get a price drop. It would be cool to get the engraving...

Well most likely the new ones will be 16gb for $149 instead of 8gb. The refurbs will remain the same. You might want to check ebay as brand new nanos can go for $80-$90.

and what about 8GB (my target size) then? ~ drop to somewhere between referb ($99) and current price of $149?

If that's the case, I should get the new 8 GB from apple now (with inscribing + and avoid any potential e-bay trouble) and then look forward to the price reduction... right?

Well Apple would discontinue them. They will be available at other retailers at a discounted price but only in refurb $99 form from apple.

If you've waited this long then just wait another month and get the new 16GB for the price of the old 8GB.

Explain it to the kids and they might even get more excited.
