New York.
I have a 2010 iMac running High Sierra and want to migrate the iTunes library and metadata to my 2019 iMac running Catalina.

I’m having a difficult time. I have Apple Music, but don’t trust that to upload my non-purchased songs.

Has anyone successfully been able to do this without losing data?

I have "home videos" that are digital mp4 recordings not sourced from Apple Itunes which I added to copy to my ipad. These were transfered fine.

Ehh thanks, but doesn’t really help me. It’s amazing that music can be so difficult to find help with Lol yet there are bigger complex things that people can solve and discuss.

I feel like I rarely have issues, but when I do they’re just unsolvable Lol.......

My point was that I have a collection of non Itunes sourced material as well as purchased stuff not downloaded and that was all copied across. What does not work in tv is the wishlist but it works in Music

Have you tried imazing? I used it to copy all music off my iPad which was synced with my pc onto my new 2019 iMac.

Once it copied all the files, I transferred it to a external hard drive, opened up iTunes on Mac and dragged the folder across.

Just bare in mind you need to purchase the full version to complete the job, as it only allows 50 songs in the free version if I remember correctly

No, I had not heard of that. Currently on 2013 MacBook Air ad just ordered up spec'ed 16" Mac Book Pro with all the whistles and bells, so likely be moving stuff. A lot fo the old stuff was recorded in SD to minimize files size which was fine on ipad mini and passable on 13" but I think HD and 4K is where I will be going with new one. Still who knows.

Thank you guys. It’s so weird. I put the entire iTunes folder on my external and replaced that folder with what was in the “Music App folder”. That didn’t work.

You know what I had to do to preserve everything? Lol...

I had to create a new user account on my old computer, put my iTunes library on that side THENN do a Time Machine backup and plug it into the new computer and transfer only the contents of that user account (which was just the music library).

By doing that I was able to see my exact Music library on the new computer. Crazy. So much effort for something so simple.
