Nowhere and everywhere
Hello, I've been working on the design of my application, and I wanted to get advice from some people who knows design if you don't mind.

Thanks,

In the list view, I think the category titles are a little too close to the arrows. Also, I think you need to rework your type in the main window. I would try and draw attention to just the most important info, because I'm not exactly sure where I should be looking... I kind of have to search for the video's title.

Good job, though. :)

Ok, I moved it over 2 pixels, don't know if that is enough, so here is a screenshot.

I'm guessing by that you mean make the fonts for the other info smaller and put them away from the title. I could do that, don't know if that's what you mean though.

Great Idea! And I really like how you have kept it simple. The only question I would have is regarding the choice to show the right part of the screen as a list... We are all used to the "icon / checkerboard" layout that the web site utilizes. Would it be possible to show the listing in this way? Or maybe add view option to show as a list or icon (similar to how Finder on the Mac works with list, tree or icons)?

In regards to the arrows... Most other mac programs will take to submenues or sub lists when you click on the (see Mail for example) will you program do the same? If not the maybe having the arrow symbols is misleading and you should possibly choose some other icon (possibly a counter showing how many videos are available in each section).

Good luck completing your App I will be keen to see the finished product I think is a great idea.

Personally from a personal choice POV I also prefer to keep my backgrounds dark grey, I know it's not the mac norm but it uses less energy so it's better for battery driven machines and also video and photos tend to look better with a dark background. YouTube even offers the Lights Off option now which gives that effect.

The media player looks good will it have the controls to turn off commercials, fast forward, rewind etc? I see that you can view full screen which is great.

Also just wondering?... Will your program be able to upload videos, will you be able to favourite videos and maintain you YouTube channel etc...?

I will think about doing that. But for now it's list view only.

Currently when you click the arrow, it shows today, this week, and this month, allowing you to choose the time period of the top rated, ect...

I already released it before, but this is an update and I'm wanting to make sure it's good before I update.

Not to argue, but that's not true, when you make a darker area, it doesn't save you battery life, because with LCD, not LED, it keeps a backlight going and covers it with colors and other stuff, doesn't dim if there isn't much light. Don't know exactly what this has to do with my app though.

If you mean the commercials that popup when your watching? Mine doesn't get that because their annotations which I have no access to, maybe in the future I will have annotations though. As for fast forward and rewind, you can click on the bar to go to a point in time.

Also just wondering?... Will your program be able to upload videos, will you be able to favourite videos and maintain you YouTube channel etc...?
Currently you can add favorites but uploading is not yet, I am going to work on it for this version though and hopefully have it for release.

If you'll like to try a beta, you can download it at http://mrgeckosmedia.com/YouView.zip

Thanks for the reply,

well i'd just keep it allinged, not even move it away but just worry about decreasing the type size for any info below the title. :)
