Advice on School Campaign Flyers? Thanks!

I'm running for president of the National Honor Society of my high school. I REALLY want to win this. I'm not the most popular kid running, but I'm not so unpopular as to make it impossible for me to win. I'm going to put more effort into this than the other candidates(they're just asking kids on Facebook).

I also made a QRCode that the kids who see my flyer can scan with their phones and be linked to my facebook page(which I might do something with after people follow it).

Here is a VERY tentative concept that I made in a few minutes. What do you think? I'm completely open to scrapping it and taking your advice from scratch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Warning, as the actual designers here will notice instantly, I've never taken a design course in my life. Take any advice with a grain of salt.

Here's my take on it using the basic layout and color scheme you came up with. I got rid of the red and blue since they were really bright and clashed. There's blank room in the middle for a picture.
