My 6s screen cracked badly and I had to replace it the same day to keep my phone function properly. Because I didn't have apple care I decided to go to a service store near me and have the screen replaced in just 15' but I'd like to know if I made the right decision cause I don't know if the screen is the same like Apple or is an inferior copy.

I asked the service girl if the screen is genuine and she told me that all of their parts are OEM. She told me that if I face any issue with the new screen that they would replace it for free for a six month warranty.

It seems that the screen has a really noticeable lag when I scroll and wasn't before my sceeen cracked but the girl wouldn't admit it and told me that everything is normal and that even if she replaced the screen again there wouldn't by any change whatsoever.

I googled a bit and read that sometimes after a screen replacement there are some connectors that are misplaced or something like that. Or could be any software issue and maybe I should do a reset and install iOS again?

If the store isn't Apple Authorised the replacement screen won't be a new genuine part. Apple only sell parts to their Authorised Service providers.

I see...so they charged me $150 before tax the same price Apple charges for a genuine screen replacement...
Is that why I have the lag issues cause the screen is not genuine?

From what I can find on Apple's website iFixScreens Astoria isn't listed as an iPhone service provider. Your best option would probably be to get the phone checked at an Apple Store if your unsure.

So any idea what would be the cause of the lag that I have on my phone? Is it cause the screen is not genuine Apple?

Could be a low quality part causing this, but hard to say from a distance. I generally avoid these kinds of stores since they surely void the manufacturer's warranty and Apple doesn't deal with service parts for uncertified third parties.

I would definitely go back to the place you got the screen replaced. If you take it to the Apple store, they can tell if the screen was replaced by a third party and those they will turn you away, they won't even touch your device.

Next time stick with Apple store repairs only. It would have cost you the same price to go to Apple and get an official screen.
Once you install a 3rd party screen or any 3rd party part inside your phone Apple will not service it again.

The repair pricing in this chart applies only to screen damage. If you have any other damage to your iPhone, you’ll pay additional costs.

Model With AppleCare+ Out-of-warranty
iPhone 7 Plus
$29 $149
iPhone 7 $29 $129
iPhone 6s Plus $29 $149
iPhones 6s $29 $129
iPhone SE $29 $129

Even if the phone is out of warranty? Say my 3rd party screen that I have now cracks again, apple won't agree to replace it with a genuine one?

I think my 6S+ cost me just under $160 at the Apple Store. I dropped a 45 pound dumbbell on it at the gym, destroyed the screen. They replaced it and it was good as new. There was even a nice dent protruding on the back from the radius of the weight. Lol

As was said, you can try but it seems unlikely. A manufacturer will want to make sure to grand a warranty only to systems that have not in any way been tampered with (in hardware, not software). Once you start putting in third party parts, the manufacturer warranty is done because you alter the state the device left the factory with.

That's impressive that's all the damage suffered was just the screen from a 45 pound dumb bell. Considering the amount of impact. $160.00 for a screen or $650.00 for a new iPhone.

This girl lied to you. Apple does not sell parts to these kiosk repair people so it is at best a used screen but more likely a knockoff with questionable performance. For the little money saved, I still think that Apple is worth the extra price for repair.

Ok I feel a lot better now. I went back to the store again and fortunately there was another guy very willing to help me and admitted that the girl that did the first replacement and is the owner, didn't do a good job with the connectors and that is why I was experiencing the lag on the screen. So he replaced the screen again and the phone works the same when I boutght it.

Good to hear you got it sorted. When I went on the website before it said they gave a 6 month warranty on repairs so at least you should be covered if the screen goes funny later.
