the Magic Mouse and hung up the install with the flashing question mark and support.apple.com/mac/startup at the bottom of the page...all known remedies have been tried multiple times..two apple tekkies one senior advisor....all advise apple will not fix or work on it because it is in a 2013 and too old.inspite of the fact apple put in a new hard drive a year or so ago and cleaned it up inside supposedly..hate to bet my life on that.!!!-I no longer boot from that drive- for the last 6 months or so I use a t5 1tb ssd external that I boot from..my iMac cannot find the directory to the load modules is my interpretation of the problem ...now what??I would like a tekkie to come to my house and rig a usb or manipulate some terminal code to boot from the old internal disk version of Catalina- then I could rehab the ssd and reload it etc.

this sound right to you all ?

now where and how to get compenteent tekkie? no geeks and I don't want this to leave my house- to much personal and financial stuff on it and who knows what some miscreant might put on it- Apple wizards that you would want in your house are scarce it seems.?? thank all for any recommendations...r

Your post isn't clear.

Can you boot to internet recovery?
Command-OPTION-R
??

If you get to internet recovery, can you re-install OS on the boot SSD?

If NO, can you install a copy of the OS onto the internal drive?
Just so it can be made bootable?

thank you got it.......opt let choose old hard drive that got me up did 2 updates cloned it back to my t5 ssd...all good took all day....thank you
