Advice trading MBP for Mac Pro

I have a 2.4ghz unibody MacBook Pro that I am considering trading with a guy for a 2006 quad 2.66ghz Mac Pro.

I bought the laptop for mostly video editing but I never once used it for that. Mostly just use that for just messing around on the Internet and watching Netflix. Now I have a iPad 2 that I can use for that kind of stuff.

All my video editing gets done on my Octo 2.8ghz Mac Pro. I'm considering the trade because my editing partner is still using a old 1.4ghz Mac Mini to run Final Cut Studio 2. Was thinking I could replacing his very slow computer with the traded 2.66 Mac Pro. Or should I just tell him to upgrade himself lol.

The uni MBP would be a step up (actually, several flights) from the g4 mini, so if you either traded for the MP or gave him the MBP, it would be an improvement.

Either way, taking something that isn't being used (or trading for something that will be) and putting it to constructive use (presumably to make money) would be a good trade.

Any reason why your partner hasn't upgraded himself?
