So I upgraded to 3.1 yesterday and noticed just now that when I go into my iPod, it says I have no music. However, when I go to my playlists, my playlist music is still there and can be played (unless iPod crashes, which it does a lot).

I go into settings, and it says I have 0 songs, yet it also says I only have 13GB of my 30GB available.

Anyone else having this issue or know what to do? Screenshots included...

I have exactly the same - no songs, albums or artists but I have 12GB of "something" on there.

What I did notice is that my playlists are still there - with their songs, which are fully playable, even though the same songs "don't exist" in the normal browser. I'm away from my home PC right now so I can't try a re-sync or anything but at least you know you're not alone.

16GB 3Gs 3.1, Vista Premium, iTunes 9

My settings screen showed the same as yours, 0 songs. When I went into the iPod app, I got a screen that said something like "Updating Library - this may take awhile".

After "awhile" all my songs showed up, and performance went back to normal (it was sluggish, like it was churning away on something in the background).

Have you tried rebooting the phone?

Thanks icewing, that makes sense, especially as I'd only just fired up iTunes 9 at the same time so it may have still been working on my 170GB library there also. I'll try when I get home...

UPDATE: Yep, left it connected for a while and everything seems to be OK now. Thanks again.

The same thing happened to me, but after I opened the iPod app it all got fixed. No need to reboot. And I cancelled the iPod app, since I got tired of waiting for whatever it was doing. Try it.

OK so I resynced and backed up my phone and everything came back to normal. I had the same issue with playlists appearing and playing songs normally.

So if you guys have an issue like mine, I'd suggest trying to sync again and if that doesnt work, the dreaded restore might be in order.

Thanks to all who replied!
