After 3 years, Nokia N8 has been matched

Galaxy S4 finally matches Nokia N8 in photo quality. And it took three years to catch up to it.

It still remains to be seen how they fare in night shots, but the S4's camera looks quite impressive.

I wonder how many years is it going to be before the tech industry catches up to 808 PureView. I bet not less than 5.

Both the N8 and 808 have amazing cameras but are absolutely horrible phones.

I can't find the article, but I read a good one the other day that talked about how Nokia is being held back by Microsoft. Nokia has some of the best hardware, but had they chose to go Android id would have been leveraged a little bit better. I'm sure it would have helped their financials a bit more than MS too.

Are you sure the N8's camera has been matched by the s4?
The N8 still has a much larger sensor and a xenon flash, I can't imagine that the s4 produces better pictures.

Yes. In my opinion Nokia made a huge mistake by going with Microsoft.

They have great designs, their camera technology is great, they have great maps. If they had gone with Android and released a flagship product with their PureView camera. I'd probably buy it.

The "differentiation" that their CEO yapped about is the biggest BS ever, he could've at least tried to come up with a better excuse. Nokia would've had more differentiation on Android, they could've made their own skin, Symbian users would've been more open to going to Android because it offers the same functionality, instead of switching to an ugly OS that is more locked down than iOS, with no applications.

Pretty sure.

Even Galaxy S III came really close and what's strange it did very well against the N8 in dark shots too.

The top part is the N8, the bottom is S III.

I compared images of Galaxy S III to S4 from mobile-review.com and the S4 is obviously better.

And yeah, when it comes to cameras, no contest. The 920 is awesome. The flash is barely ever even necessary it performs so well in low light. I do like WP8, despite it's obvious setbacks, but when the S4 comes out I'm going to go with that for a while and keep my 920 as backup.

Is there really anything stopping Nokia from one day releasing an Android phone? Why not have a WP8 line and a Android line? They need to do something, especially in America, their numbers are atrocious so far this year.

Chaz pretty much answered the question. The guy is a horrible CEO.

It makes absolutely no sense why Nokia, a company whose only product is phones does not expand their horizons and try releasing both products, like Samsung, HTC and all others do.

I guess when they hit the complete rock bottom, they'll either release an Android flagship or Microsoft will just buy them out.
