but i have att so i should have service. i dont want to unlock my phone just wanted to jailbreak.
what is expert mode in what im so confused right now. i dont know what to do now. i have followed the instructions from iclarified.com
maybe im a complete moron but i dont understand why you would need a "custom" 3.0 firmware restore...what is that used for?
if i just want to jailbreak my 3g with 3.0... i just need redsnow and the original 3.0 ipsw file right?

You're using Pwnage Tool correct? If so, at the top you will see expert mode. Click on that. You will get some options, go to General and uncheck activate. This screen (but uncheck it):
You must need glasses. It is right there in plain sight at the top.

no im using redsnow. not pwngtool. that i prolly should have mentioned earlier sorry about that.
You need to be using Pwnage Tool. Download it. It will solve your problem right away.
