Jailbreaks/IOS Hacks
after iLex R.A.T. i cant use anything besides messages. any other app including cydia crashes, and parts of my springboard are still themed, and all of my app icons are perfect squares.... what did i do....

im on 8.1.2 on an iPhone 6

If you used R.A.T on iOS 8 and are lucky enough to have a device that still boots, follow the instructions below to get it running normally again. In most cases using R.A.T. (on iOS 8 ) will effectively "semi-remove" your jailbreak. Symptoms include apps instantly closing on launch, Cydia icon completey missing, Wifi grayed out and unusable, among others. To fix this:

Run Taig or PP jailbreak again (this is one of the few scenarios where you can actually "re-jailbreak" a device without doing a complete restore first).

At this point after successfully "re-jailbreaking", Cydia should reappear and be usable again.

Intall OpenSSH from Cydia.

Download SemiRestore from www.semi-restore.com, connect your device via USB, and run the tool. See this tutorial for more info.

If after running SemiRestore you encounter network or activation issues, simply run SemiRestore a second time.

That's it! Your device should now be back to a normal, fully functional jailbroken state.

Here is one recent example of this being resolved by using the steps above.

Needless to say, anyone on iOS 8 should stay as far away from iLex R.A.T. as possible!!!

alright, i'll try it. its weird that ive used it at least twice before on the same device and had no issues whatsoever.

well, i think i'm gonna use my iPhone 5 for a while, then once i get bored ill download windows and try semirestore. i'm sick of the terrible battery life on my 6. my 5 lasts twice as long.

Its gotta be stuff that you installed on it from cydia.
My JB 6 Plus lasts forever. Great battery life.

i think it was my iCloud backup. it was from 8.0 and even before a jailbreak it sucked. so its either the backup or the hardware itself. i might just wait to see if an 8.3 jailbreak comes out soon and just restore and jailbreak that with a clean install.

True, I don't like to use old backups.
I usually restore and setup as new.

It also bricked my 5S. Had to restore to 8.3.

8.4 is in public beta and I'd like to use it, but it's no where to be found on Apples website. I think I have to have a Mac to use iOS public betas. Really sucks.

It really sucks. And my battery is if anything worse... Looks like ill go get it replaced with applecare and sell it to get the 6s

I googled "ios 8.4 beta download" . The very first result allowed me to download it. You will still have to have your UUID registered in order to use it, but there may be a way around that.
