FNG here... need some help...

I bought a fresh (refurbed) iPhone 6, and restored my old phone onto it using iTunes. It didn't go perfectly, but I got it done without losing anything but a year of texts and a few contacts.

Then later that day I connect again to my old trusty MBP and upgrade the phone to the new iOS 10. It updates and starts... I disconnect and think everything is fine. Then I realize I'm missing all my music and go to sync it up. As soon as I plug the phone into the computer I get the error message "iTunes cannot connect to this phone because it received and invalid response".

I checked, and both iTunes (12.2.2) and OS X say they are up to date. I called apple support and the guy ends up just telling me my computer is all the sudden too old to run the latest iTunes and there's nothing I can do short of buying a new laptop.

Anybody else hear of this? Is there a fix? Thanks!
