This happened once before and I think somehow she changed her PIN, or password, and I had to completely wipe her iPad and set it up again. She was avoiding the updates, but accidentally started one again. As far as I know after an iOS update it might ask for the PIN number. Or maybe if it's a larger update, will it ask her to setup touchID? We've been avoiding that. Anyway, she is locked out again and it says I need to hook it up to a computer. These things are not very old fart friendly, what is going to happen when I hook it to my computer? Thanks for any help.

They are pretty old fart friendly to be honest, if old farts can remember their own darn PIN's

It will not ask for Touch ID ever. unless the iPad has been completely started and the PIN has already been used to unlock the device

Yea i don't know if she botched the PIN part, or maybe she made it past that part and it moved to asking her to setup TouchID. Seems like I remember that happening the last time I redid everything for her. I have her passwords, becasue I set them up again last time, so if they don't work, then she changed them somehow. I told her to call me next time first before doing anything, ssssiggghhhh

Best success OP! I know these troubleshooting scenarios from personal experience too.

This feels like a good case for multi user account on iPad OS, where one can be the “admin” that can reset other user’s password (like on a desktop OS).

Just got a new 8th generation iPad thru t-mobile, couldn’t pass up the deal they offered when I went and paid the monthly phone bill, and it is amazing, it replaced my iPad Air 2 which I have given to my boyfriend to get him more into the apple ecosystem because it is far superior than android....

If she just uses it at home and never removes it from her house why dont you just disable the pin?
Is it possible to do that? I thought that since certain version of iOS, PIN is required (probably for the encryption). Correct me if I'm wrong though.
