I'm a newb at Apple products, been a pc user most of my life. After getting my ip4 I"ve been amazed at what it can do, needless to say I'm a happy camper. Anyways now that I've settled into my ip4 usage, I've been eyeing the Ipad. I'm an avid net user, frequent alot of forums, listen to music, so I figured the purchase would be justified. :D

My question to you guys is: Should I wait for a possible upgrade in a Sept. or just take the plunge now. I'm thinking of going for the whole enchilada, 64gb with 3g.

The iPad just came out 2 months ago, usually with these devices there is a yearly refresh rather than a bi-yearly refresh. (Although we don't know yet because it just came out, so that's just a guess) But, I'd say if you're going to get an iPad go with the current one because it really isn't that old at all.

Glad you've seen the light!

A typical product lifecycle for Apple iDevices is 1 year refresh. This has been fairly consistent, so I am a bit skeptical at the rumors there is a new iPad coming out in just 3 months. I think we will see the 2nd generation iPad next April.

So if you feel that owning the current iteration for 10 months before a refresh is worth it - do it! I love my iPad! If you can wait for 10 months, then I'm sure you will be happy with whatever 2nd gen delivers. Hope this helped.

iOS4 will be available for the iPad in the Fall, but if you are looking for new hardware, expect that next Spring.

It's apparent that the next iPad will have a camera -or two - and Facetime.

However, that is 9-10 months away. In tech terms, that's a lifetime.

I don't know if upload speed is important to you but note iPad's 3G chip is the old one so no HSUPA like iPhone 4.

What old one are you talking about? The iPad and iPhone 4 both use the Broadcom BCM4750 single chip, unless there is a variant of the core hardware.

Ok found one on craigslist. Guy wants $940 for everything, what do you guys think?

Purchased 1 Month ago, kept in case, I never use it, my loss your gain, mint condition, PAID OVER $1,200.00 from Apple Store. INCLUDED: iPad 3G 64GB, 2 Year Apple Care ($99.00), Marware Leather Case ($49.00) Incase Case ($34.95) Camera Kit ($29.00)..ALL ITEMS INCLUDED, I HAVE the original box, docs, cables, charger etc

I dont think , there is an iPad 2 coming this autumn , because iPad just came out and is still not avaliable , for example , in Russia or northern Europe.
Iwould recommend you buying it now.

It requires a bit of paperwork to transfer the Applecare. Make sure he has all of it and you take care of sending it all into Apple.
