right now i am on 3.0 firmware (jailbroken using redsnow if it matters)
and i am happy with it.. wasn't planning to upgrade it to anything else in the near future

however, due to some problems.. i have to replace my iphone.. i will be heading to apple tomorrow to get it replaced.
i was just wondering.. the replacement.. it would most probably be the latest version 3.1.2 am i correct?

in that case can i still jailbreak it by doing a restore to the 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware or whatever... or is that not possible (i.e. i have to do a jb on 3.1.2 no matter what)...

sorry for being that fussy.. i have only tried using redsnow and i like it.. didn't want to jb it in any other way... and i have seen so many issues with blackrain / whatever rain programs out there.. :S

recommendations?

thanks xoxo

Well, as of right now, (if the phone comes with 3.1.2) there is no downgrade option for the 3GS, (not sure about the 3G) so if that's the phone you have, then your only option is blackra1n (blackra1n.com) I've used it and it works fine, so yea, go ahead with no fear!

on the other hand... i heard that it causes battery issues as well as erm. many programs / jailbroken programs do not support this version yet? :S
