Hello, I have a 4,1 Mac Pro that I flashed to 5,1. When acquired it the WiFi was missing. I recently saw on eBay a pcie DWA-556 D-Link Xtreme N PCIe Apple Mac Pro 2009 4,1 Tower WiFi Wireless Adapter.

After I installed it. It doesn’t show up however when I boot into Windows 10 it works flawlessly. So does anyone know if I need to install a kext to get it to show up?

Thank you for reading my post.

Third party WiFi cards in any Mac are basically never worth it. Apple doesn’t allow it to use the native wireless stack so the few companies go through the effort have to fake it as an Ethernet adapter and then make their own wireless utility.

You should have just used the imac card (BCM94360CD) in the adapter in the stock location (mPCIe) if you wanted reliable / working WiFi in a Mac.

Thank you for the reply. I got this WiFi card very cheap so figured it was worth a shot. I’ll buy the one you recommend thanks.
