I've had an interesting issue since the OTA update to 5.0.1 -- ITunes is randomly starting on my computer, telling me it has found an iphone but can't open it. I'm not plugged in, and there's nothing in settings telling me why ITunes would start without plugging in the phone. Also interesting: in the bar on the left, it shows my phone as if it was plugged in but its not. Any ideas on how to make it stop?

Wi-Fi sync works whether the iOS device is connected to power or not. The only difference is if it's not connected to power you have to imitate it manually. Not sure why iTunes is randomly opening up though.

go into iTunes and turn off the turn off the option, open iTunes when phone is connected. If you have wifi sync turned on it will connect your phone to your computer if you are on the same network...regardless of whether you are syncing or not. So if you jump on wifi and you have iTunes set to start up when your phone is connected it will start up regardless of being on power or not. Its not syncing, its just preparing to sync. My phone and iPad appear in iTunes all the time even if they aren't plugged in.
