If I bought the cheapest iMac at base model right now, in a month or two could I buy more RAM for it? Then could I later buy a better video/graphics card and get that put in?
And could I have these things done by official Apple peoples. Not that I care much - I'd just like to know if official people do this. :)

Video: No, you are stuck with the video you buy! With the low end 20 inch iMac your only option is the poor 9400M.

RAM: Yes, you can even do it yourself (it won't void the warranty)!

RAM would be the easiest upgrade....you would be able to upgrade RAM yourself. Even check youtube for how-to's. Click on the "Guides" tab and look for RAM. There are links on where to purchase and how to upgrade. I don't believe you can change out the graphics card. I believe they are soldered to the motherboard.

Ouch so I am going to be stuck with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M forever! It better be good! I do some pretty harsh stuff to my computers!
