how do i put all my stuff back on how do i set everything up do i go to "set up as new iphone" or restore from backup". i thought if i restore from backup it will put me back at my old 3. whatever it was. so do i just start over?

You just restore from backup, but just using 4.0 because it is new is a very very bad idea. A lot of applications are crashing and it isn't always stable for general usage. It is only meant as a developer preview for a good reason.

Remember this is after already updating to 4.0

so if i "restore from backup" in itunes (remember this is after already updating to 4.0 i updated like apple told me in X-CODE) i wont loose 4.0 and go back to 3. because that is what my iphone was when i last sync it

No, you'll just restore your data onto your iPhone like every other restore.

It's pretty nice because back in the 2.0 beta days and a little bit with the 3.0 betas I often had many problems unless I set up as a new iPhone after installing the beta. So far, no problems with a backup that goes back to jailbroken 3.1.2, vanilla 3.1.2, jailbroken 3.1.3, and vanilla 3.1.3 before I installed 4.0. Working pretty damn good. Very happy with the stability of this beta.

i got it, everything runs great the photo and compass apps are buggy but most of my apps run so im good. also i lost the camera role photos on the phone but they were backed up so i got them back. one other thing also the maps app takes forever to get your location but the actual map loads fast.
