Aftermarket cooler 560ti 448 How to monitor temp

Last week I bought an MSI 560Ti 448. everything was dandy except the card was entirely too loud. Today I got an Accelero Twin Turbo II and installed it on the card while at work. Finally the card is quiet but I want to make sure is cool. I've read lots of reviews on the cooler and they all say it's wonderful but I'd like some proof.

Is there a monitor that will let me monitor GPU temps with the PC card installed?

Unfortunately not in OS X. Only in Win. OS X software does not read temp sensors from PCIe cards in towers. Only iMacs and laptops cards, which have their own GPU diodes and GPU heatsink sensors can be read.

C'mon, it's not just me, it's the whole world in that case

BTW, I've tried iStat, atMonitor, Hardware Monitor and Temperature Monitor with ATI and Nvidia cards and no joy with MP GPU temps. I'm experimenting with cooling mod on 8800GTs, I don't have Win installed and it would be good to have reads in OS X...

The whole world said I couldn't use SATA3 without jumpers either..

My problem is that I refuse to install Windows..I trust that it's OK being that the card feels warm and the PCI bay is cooler than with the 4870 really hot and the card before the cooler warm..

The bottom line is:

You probably can, but nobody has found out how. Therefore, the short answer is no.

Install windows, run Furmark, note temps, restart, delete windows.

The problem with "Install Windows" is you have missed the previous step... BUY Windows.

To be honest, Win7-64 is best run on its own drive. You are talking about a Mac Pro after all.

GermanyChris - one thing you will notice with the cooler you have fitted is that it is of the type that passes the heat into the expansion bay rather than directly venting it out the back via the slotted card holder. You may hear the expansion bay fan spinning up a little more as it pushes the hot air out the back but at least that is a larger fan than the little screamers they put on the stock coolers of GPUs these days.

I fitted an Arctic Cooler Accelero XTREME Plus to my stock 5870 in THIS THREAD and have been VERY happy with its performance over the past year or so.

In fact it is approaching two years since I made the swap and all I have had to do is give the card a thorough dusting once.

I live in a no pet, no smoking flat and although the Mac Pro is on the floor, monthly vacuuming of the front of the case and a semi-annual strip down and vacuum is all I need to do. In fact since the cooler has been in for over 18 months I have just done a complete strip and thorough clean and there was remarkably little dust.

Arctic Cooler kits are very good and if you are unfortunate to have a fan fail during (or after) warranty, they are easily exchangeable without taking off the heat sink.

You probably can, but nobody has found out how. Therefore, the short answer is no.

First one would need to force OS X to read sensor on the card. If Windows can do it, it's OS limitation.
