Age of Empires 2 Multiplayer i need help

Me and a friend like to play Age of Empires 2 together. We both play it on Mac Book Pro's. But we always seem to have problems. We can start a multiplayer game just fine. And we can play it for a little while too. But then his computer usually drops out of the game and quits aoe2. that is the first problem. But when I save it, sometimes it doesn't even show up in 'restore' games, but when it does, we can't join. One of us will open up the game, and then the other will try to join, and it brings up the message 'Unable to Join Game'! It is really annoying. Another problem is the game going out of sync, and it gets saved and ready for restoring and again... the same thing happens, 'Unable to Join Game'. why is this happening???

Make sure you're running the same patch, perhaps.

But AoE2 has these sorts of issues sadly.

Ya we are both playing with the most recent patch 1.0.6

I had a similar problem and I now have a new problem.

My friend and I are both using MBP's and have AoE2 and kept getting the "unable to join." We ended up just running it through my router/as if it was an online game, and joining me that way- after patching to the most recent this fixed our issue. Maybe check your firewall settings in your router?

My similar problem is that after my friend and I finally got into a game we played for about an hour and a half then decided it was time to get some food. We saved the game and went to Sheetz. We came back and tried to load the game. I clicked restore -> selected the save file -> got taken to the lobby where it had an hourglass beside my friends name under "Ping" he did the same thing and clicked multiplayer -> restore -> selected the save file -> got taken to an identical screen, except my name had an hourglass beside it under "Ping" we waited for the better part of 10 minutes (thinking maybe since we built a lot of stuff that it might take a little while to load) but still nothing. We even started a new game together (everything worked) and saved and quit from there, tried immediately going to restore and we still couldn't get in the same lobby... Is this what is happening to you? Any ideas- aside form 'don't save'? haha
