Age of Empires II graphical problem

It seems like i have a pixel problem, they keep enlarging every time i play the game, and it would appear they change colors (ex: the lower-right corner of the main menu 'banner' is colored this way)

There hasn't been any new patches lately, or has there?? I still use 1.06.

I play on an old Imac, Intel Core Duo with Leopard

I've tried forcing 256 colors, but that doesn't help in any way.

Graphics card is ATI Radeon X1600

The full model name is Imac4,1 and the full OS X version is 10.5.8
