Age of Empires III Lan Problems between Windows and OSX

So my 2 friends just got Age of Empires III for Windows. Me and my other friend have AoE III on our Macs (both running Leopard), and both of us can join each others lan games. The problem is we can't join the guys using Windows lan game. All of us have the most up to date versions of the game. Any solution to this problem.

I believe that the Mac version cannot play online/LAN with the Windows version. I would have bought the Mac version otherwise.
