AIM is allowing simoutaneous logons. I was able to do it with four different clients at the same time... (on two different machines --second version number of each is the second machine) iChat 1.0.1, 2.0, and fire 0.32g, 0.32h... and it was reproduced on a windows machine using the official AIM client and the latest version of Trillian. Seems to be a AIM server problem.

Edit: Yes, this is a security breach, as someone with your password could sign on at the same time and monitor what others are saying to you (the message from the other person appeared to all four clients), and could message them back as you without you knowing (your sent message only shows on the client that sent it and to the recipient).
 
hmm, I know you can log onto the AIM networks using two different methods (TOC and Oscar). Maybe that is whats causing it?
 
I noticed this too. When I sign on at a second location, I get a message from aimmngr (or something like that) telling me that I'm signed on at 2 different places, with a link in the message to AOL's website.

I thought it was weird, is this a new feature? I was never able to do this in the past...
 
Yeah its something new with aim that i noticed a few weeks ago. I always used to logon at work using windows 2003 server, using the standard aim client. And i would leave it on with an away message, then logon at home knowing that the one at work would get kicked off. Then all of a sudden when i tried to do it, aim told me that both places would stay logged on. Its a new feature with aim, i personally dont like it though, cause what if u leave it on by accident.

I don't like it.

I don't like it either. In your scenario, the 2003 server stays logged in, and when you get back to work, all the messages you got overnight while talking to people from home will be littering your screen. Someone with physical access to the other machine may see this... and spread rumors, etc based on the other half of a conversation :)
