I have an imac g5 running tiger. I would like to know why aim crashes a lot. Out of no where, i will be in a conversation and it will exit and say aim has quit unexpectadly and then i hit reopen. Why is this happening?

AIM for mac os x is horrible. I stopped using it a while back when I found out about adium, you can also use adium for msn yahoo and all that jazz. Check it out, its way better. (And cooler looking too)

fig tree
it's not a bug; it's a feature.
uhh...if you prefer to use aim over other, imo better clients, you could try trashing the .plist if aim has one, or repairing permissions.

are you sure it cant do transfers. because under the tab "window" it says file transfers. I havent used it, but it seems like it would serve the person of sending files.

Adium can transfer files, drag 'n drop into the window and press return. :)

I use adium for chatting, and if one of my friends wants to transfer a file, then I just turn on AIM, get the file, then turn it back off....all while Adium is still on. It works, a little bit annoying, but...it works.

Edit: Transfering did work once for my on adium, however my friend was the one giving me the file, if that has anything to do with it.
