Is it possible to run aim on a macbook w/o having to run boot camp or parelle? Just wondering if not I guess I'll use iChat! Can you talk to people who are on aim if your on iChat. Just wondering i'm asking all these questions before I get my black macbook next month!

Never use AIM. The program is horrible and outdated.
Use iChat. It's a much, much better program than AIM. You can talk to other AIM users with iChat by using your AIM sn and password.

I would actually recommend Adium over iChat, but thats my personal preference. :)

You can mess with Adium's settings and make it looks really attractive for a simple instant message based program. I like the bubble effects on different groups.

iChat if you need to use the web cam or have an audio chat. Otherwise as mentioned, Adium is a wonderful choice.

iChat uses your AIM account. Adium allows you to use AIM, yahoo, MSN, etc.

i tried using adium when i got my macbook, but it didn't last. i think i might have been too used to the ichat feel. i use ichat for aim and gtalk, though it would be nice to have one buddy list for both accounts.

Adium FTW!

Seriously though, this is one of the greatest pieces of freeware available for Mac IMO.

And you can skin it, or download hundreds of cool add-ons from www.adiumxtras.com

Another vote for adium here.....

off topic sort of, but your name is applefan from just owning a ipod? I guess we all have start somewhere

+1 more for Adium. Sure you can't use video chat with it, but iChat is so ****** that I would reccomend Skype for that

i always use ichat, imo. i really never tried audium, but im not looking to switch anytime soon

I have tired audium and it IS a wonderful program... however until they add Audio and Video chat functionality, i'm staying with iChat.

I agree. If video chat and Skype functionality is added to Adium it would be almost perfect.

one thing nice about adium is it has tabbed browsing which the current iChat does not, Leopard does however, and with adium you can log on to all of your screen names at one time, very nice feature which ichat dosent have either, you can register different screen names but can only use one at a time
