sorry, me again.. you people are probably like "please shut up" but it's okay this is the last thing i promise.

i downloaded aim and yahoo messenger on my powerbook and it seems to be running... ummm slower. could that be aim and yahoo or could it also be that i have acquistion.. it just seems so slowish now ;(

You didn't download them from Yahoo and AOL's website did you?

I sure hope not...

You may have got lucky, but you might have a TON of virus/spyware that is slowing you down now...

lol Just kidding.... :p

How much ram do you have, and are you noticing the slow down only when you have both open at once?

You might try Adium - lets you use both yahoo and aim in one client.

you.... just.. scared the crap out of me. lol
yes i downloaded them from the website, is there anyway i can delete them and just download the application you just suggested?

You delete them by just dragging their icons from the Applications folder to the trash.

Adium can be downloaded @ http://www.adiumx.com

512mb should not be very slow...so if your system slows to a halt, it might be something serious...but hopefully that's not the case.

i started lagging while playing a yahoo game which i kinda thought was weird it happened right after i went on yahoo and aim

I've had issues with my system really slowing down when running Java applets, which are often used in the online games that Yahoo offers. I think I had more of a problem in Firefox than in Safari but both seemed to really utilize the CPU to run those java games, not sure why. Do you have any problems when you are not using Java applets?

nope, non at all. im thinking it was yahoo messenger, aim, and java apps all in one which made it kinda sluggish, thank you guys this new application is looking pretty cool. i deleted aim so its gone now right i dont have to do anything else?

Yep - if you deleted it it's gone :)

I take it you're new to OS X?

Unlike Windows, OS X doesn't have a central registry, so you do not have to 'uninstall' things. You just delete the application and it's gone.

im new to macs in general. sorry if i seem stupid but this is a kinda big transition, but love it so far.

Hey don't be sorry :)

No question is a stupid one, especially when you're new to something.

If no one ever asked questions, no one would ever know anything.

And I wouln't have anyone to scare w/ talk of virus/spyware LOL

(neither of which you actually have to worry about - OS X is very safe and secure)

adium is great as is deleting applications and not having to worry about accidently deleting something and your computer not working properly is great too
