Air 2 batter expanded and popped case open!

DW took it out of a wooden frame where for the last 13 months it's been on pretty much 24/7. She pressed the power button and the thing popped open. The battery has expanded though not exploded. I don't know if it could or how far away it might be from it.

I'm not certain that we have applecare, but would it be covered? I think we've owned it for about 18 months.

Probably not covered, but they may not charge you the full price for the repair. You should definitely take it in for service as faulty lithium ion batteries aren't safe to have around.

Without AppleCare you’ll most likely be charged out of warranty replacement cost unless they do you a favor.

I’ll check by serial number but it will come down to price vs buying used.

If your out of warranty with a swollen battery the cost is very reasonable

If you have AppleCare, there should be no charge to you whatsoever.

FYI , had AppleCare so no charge but she said they wouldn’t charge even if I didn’t.
