[battery]

DW took it out of a wooden frame where for the last 13 months it's been on pretty much 24/7. She pressed the power button and the thing popped open. The battery has expanded though not exploded. I don't know if it could or how far away it might be from it.

I'm not certain that we have applecare, but would it be covered? I think we've owned it for about 18 months.

Thank you

Probably not covered, but they may not charge you the full price for the repair. You should definitely take it in for service as faulty lithium ion batteries aren't safe to have around.

Genius Bar appointment made for next week, conveniently timed with just a few shopping days left!

I’ll check by serial number but it will come down to price vs buying used.

I Checked and confirmed that I do have AppleCare so am hoping repair will be affordable.
