So I had originally loaded the official 13.3 update on my iPad Air 2 and this update made my Air 2 pretty slow/laggy and choppy, after a few weeks of this today I decided to go back into the Public Betas and give 13.3.1 Beta 1 a go, and voila! Lag and choppiness is gone and it’s back to being as good as it was before :D running fast and smooth.

if you had an Air 2 and found 13.3 to not be great on it I would highly recommend jumping to the 13.3.1 Beta 1 FW. :)

13.3.1 is better on my iPhone 11 Pro as well. It’s sad that a beta is better than a public release. Betas of 13.3 were great then the public release comes out and its worse than any of the betas.

It is absolutely sad, I don’t get how they blow it when they do the final release, surely the QC team are all the same people who are overseeing the Betas? Makes absolutely no sense that they mess it up when they launch the final.

Great to hear - 13.2.3 was possibly the best my iPad Air 2 has ever been, so 13.3’s freezing and choppy behaviour is a big disappointment. Maybe I can hold off buying an Air 3 for a bit longer 😂

Yep, there is, that’s the one I am using.

agreed!
Some people have installed 13.3 on Air 2 and found it fine, but my Air 2 ran like a pig on it.

I am also holding off on purchasing a new iPad. I am waiting for an iPad with 5G support as I hold on to them for long periods of time

So the next iPad with 5G and 5nm Bionic chip will probably be the iPad I get, long as it has at least the 9.7inch Display.

Hmm I dont find 13.3 choppy on the Air2? Can you please give an example when it starts to stutter? For sure it’s not as snappy as the Air 3 but ios 13.3 is definitely usable in standard stuff like Web browsing, email, creating small office documents, online banking watching videos and Fotos etc

I’m running a pretty clean system on my Air 2 - DFU wipe and install of 13.1 when it was released, then sync with iCloud rather than restore from backup. 13.2 was very quick and fluid, it really impressed me. Since the 13.3 update I’ve been getting long freezes (several seconds) when switching between apps. Also sometimes the keyboard doesn’t react when I start typing for 1 or 2 seconds. My iPhone X has been fine however.

13.3 is fine on our two Air 2s.

BTW, I had some pauses on my iPhone 7 Plus back with 13.1.x but they seem to be gone for the most part on 13.3.

Might see if I get get an Air 3 through the business anyway 😂 Looking at the benchmarks it’s significantly quicker, plus the extra screen size would be nice. I only use WiFi and tether to my iPhone the odd occasions I need to, so I don’t need to hold out for 5G. Just need to come up with a convincing business case... 😂
