What do you think will be the MacBook Air future updates?
Do you think the MacBook and MacBook Air will ever combine? And just have one portable laptop and of course a Pro?

I actually think it will combine" I think the macbook air was the safe way of getting rid of the DVD/CD drive in a laptop without alienating many as they did with the floppy drive way back when. I don't think that was their reason for developing it, but more of a benefit of it. I use DVD's CD's so little I would love to buy one, but can't afford the extra money right now as my school is buying me a Macbook for teaching with next fall!

I don't think they will combine in the near future. A lot of people "need" the optical drive, so it would kill a big portion of their sales by making it such that their cheapest notebook with a superdrive = $2K. The MacBook Air fills a specific demand, and Apple's current laptop line up has something for almost everyone.

i think it may replace it but far in the future.

This macbook air will simply become a client for cloud computing. it just be a screen,OS and connected to ultra speed cloud in the air. no need for optical disks.

so for countries with cloud computing this will replace the macbook,

but for less technologically developed countries the macbook will still be existent.

I agree, then we would truly have an ultraportable on our hands. (But not like what was in the picture, that looks more like a portable DVD player with a keyboard than a computer)

That's a EEEPC. A very interesting device, it's created a lot of waves in the computing industry. A lot of companies will follow suit with these kind of laptops (if they haven't already).

A bit limited for me though.

As for the Air. I'd like to see some tweaking of the spec going on and the price of the SSD option coming right down. Which it will.

Of course I would prefer to see a 12" WS MBP but at this stage that looks very unlikely.

I think in the future, NIKE will be the official sponsor of the macbook "air" and they will sell the matching shoes with it!

I hated to part w. mine too but the Air is a nice replacement. Not perfect, but nice.

My PB had dieing battery, got way too hot and the display was getting pretty dim. It's still working and it's new owner loves it so long live the 12".
