If you keep your iTunes library on an external drive, how do you manage everything while syncing with an iPhone? Obviously having a powered USB hub is a solution, but I really hate carrying around a power cord for a USB hub in order to sync my iPhone. Is anyone using any solutions with chronosync? Is there something else I'm not thinking of (changing iTunes libraries, etc.)?

Thanks for any help...

I use an external drive for media storage.

So, while at home I can sync my iphone. I always have enough on my iphone to last for a weeks worth of listening, so, I don't worry about syncing while not at home. So, no need to have anything with me except laptop and phone.

I guess I find myself needing to have a larger library than my iPhone for work related stuff.

If this is at home or work can't you just put your external hd on a wireless network and get your files from there?
Clearly the easiest way it to have your iTunes library on your Air (If you can fit it haha).

Yeah, I've thought about doing that and still might. I really just want a smaller subset of my overall iTunes library to keep on my Air that my iPhone could sync to. Just seems like there is no elegant solution to my problem.

Yes I posted on a another forum with the same query it seems there is no elegant solution because iTunes is not designed with sync capabilities. But, Time Machine is - so we are tantalizingly close with it...
