Hi All

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section but I'm a new Mac User...just bought an Air last night and am very impressed after many years of PC use.

I use a lot of the chat features and I cannot get MSN, aMSN or Facebook chat to work. I did manage to get AIM to work through iChat but enable SSL and changing the port.

MSN refuses to connect as does aMSN...I have all of the correct login details etc but it gives me a message something like cannot connect to server, make sure internet is connected. It's nothing to do with the connect to the web as that is fine and it's unlikely to be the router security settings as my Pcs can connect fine to all chat apps.

Facebook IM has problems as well. In the bottom right you have the new capability to chat to other online users but when I try, it just says "Sending" and won't do it.

I'm pretty sure they are all interconneted...firewall or the like. The firewall is on but set to Open..Working in IT I'm good with PCs but Macs are completely new to me

Any ideas what it could be?

I'm having the same problem on my iMac and PowerBook. What router are you using? I just upgraded my Netgears firmware and that's when it all stopped working. I even opened all the ports and it still doesn't work (XP on my iMac is fine with MSN, btw).

I have a Netgear as well..not sure on the model number as I'm at work at the moment. Pretty sure it has the latest firmware but it's confusing that it's letting the PC use the apps but not the MAC....

Would adding the MAC addresses help at all do you think?
