While this had a happy ending, it was quite an adventure. One evening I fell asleep while listening to music with my AirPod Pro, 2nd gen. I guess the right one fell out and disappeared in the cushions of my recliner. I spent a lot of time looking over, under, and around the recliner with no success. So, using the Apple Service app I ordered a replacement. A week later it arrived. Put it on. Nothing. Did a reset on both, nothing. Then my iPhone told me that I wasn’t the owner of either AirPod, and after multiple resets - nothing. I went to the Apple Store and they first told me that the replacement was a 1st gen AirPod Pro. They got me a replacement for it, but still could not get the AirPods to give up on the, “these don’t belong to you.” How about just replacing all? “We can’t do that because you purchased these from Amazon.” WHAT? They could do a service swap, but could not simply replace the whole - AirPods and case. I erupted, telling them I’ve been a loyal Apple customer since 1980! Finally the manager “slipped” me a new AirPod Pro 2nd gen. (with USB-C!)
