Hi, was doing some digging around for info but couldnt find it all in one place so thought I would drop a post to get peoples thoughts.

I am thinking of getting an 11" Air with 4GB Ram and 128GB SSD, which I want to use for surfing the net, email, xcode and occasional garageband (just for ideas as I have a 27" iMac)

Think it will be suitable?

yes, absolutely.
though you may wish to consider the 13" also - (13/1.86/4/128)

you don't need 4gb ram for those uses. either get the cheaper 11" or get at the same price the 13" with 2gb ram.

thanks for all the responses, I had a play with 13 and 11 - torn between them.

Going to hang on for a month though given the rumors of a new one coming. Be gutted if I bought one and then a new more powerful one came out.

Definately wait at this point. Can you handle small screen? If not, I would look at 13" with 4GB of RAM

i got a powerful mbp as a workhorse, and i got my 11" mba for casual stuff and browsing, the portability is really awesome but after using it i wish i get the 13" instead because of the screen resolution. the height of 11" mba just doesn't feel comfortable, i even put the dock on the left side but i still find it lacking.

if i were u, i'd wait for apple to release the new MBA and buy the current 13" mba in cheaper price.

Why don't you go ahead and buy the 11" now?
You can try it REALTIME for 2 weeks, and return it for the 13". You can try that one as well for 2 weeks, before returning it.
You'll be all set to go by the time Lion and the new MBA come out.

I agree w/ previous poster on the limited vertical space on the 11".
I tried the MBA 11", MBA 13", and MBP 13" this last month. I'm waiting on my VAIO till the new MBA is released... (will buy 13" MBA).

When carrying around an MBA, the 11-inch and the 13-inch don't feel any different. But when using it: the 13-inch feels a lot larger. Definitely pull for the 4gb of ram, as Lion will take up some of it.

Of course, wait for the release of the 2011 MBA. The ULV Sandy Bridge's will bring more performance with a better battery life.

Good luck!
