I did the opposite!

I traded in my MacBook for an Air (sold MacBook on eBay).

My Mackbook (Blackbook) was fantastic! BUT, I did not need a lot of its power or ports or the optical drive. And - it weighed a lot compared to my prior notebook - a Sony Vaio TR3.

I already have a Mac Pro, so the MacBook was kinda overkill for what I used it for - On the couch or on the road - e-mail and internet. The Air just made more sense. I love it.

I would NOT recommend the Air as a primary computer. It's just not powerfull enough and lacks the ports and storage that you will need.

Depends on the user. I use my air as a primary computer. I have an external 500GB hard drive connected to the airport extreme router that I connect to regulary. I have another 3TB worth of NAS thats accessible via wireless if I need to.

I also run virtual machines on this machine, linux and windows xp mostly. I play HD videos, watch youtube, download music, the whole works. all of it works and i have no issue with it being slow, not enough space or whatnot.

Of course it would be nice to have the extras, but for most uses, its good enough.

since the air is your primary machine now, what kinda apps do you usually run on it? the same ones you were using on the pro?

And if so do you notice a difference in speed or anything else?

Once up and running no hangs ups. I use logic express, itunes, iphoto, adobe creative suite, Vm ware fusion, boot camp, Microsoft office 2008, iworks 08, toast, filemaker pro.

There is a slight lag on loading, but once up and loaded works fine.
