Finally updated my Air2 with a M1 12.9 Pro and couldn't be happier.. The performance difference is something I was prepared for but not in the amount experienced. Between the micro led 120hz display, M1 SOC, speakers and 8gb of ram and everything else I'd have to say the improvements are really appreciated when you make a jump like I made. I finally purchased it because Bestbuy had it for $400 off (512gb) and I figured it was a decent price for an iPad that I plan to use for at least as long as the Air2. It came with 15.6 installed and I just updated to 15.7.1 but I'm wondering if I should jump to iPad OS 16.1.1 or stay where I am until the issues some are experiencing with the M1/M2 iPads are ironed out. I know not everyone is having problems but it's working so well right now hate to mess with it..

I’m surprised it came with iPadOS 15.6! I got an Air 5 three months ago and it came with 15.6 as well, I thought that three months later they’d have something newer.

Anyone who reads my comments knows that I never recommend updating, but I always ask one question: is there any reason for which you’d want to update? Updating just for updating’s sake is never a good idea, especially now that downgrading is no longer possible.

The odds are if you update you’ll experience the scrolling issue with blurring, smearing text. Perhaps not all M1 and M2 users are experiencing this but I’ve only seen complaints from users of those devices, including myself, on both M1 and now my M2 iPP. If you can wait another week or so for 16.2, the current 16.2 beta fixes this, you’ll be happier and won’t really be missing out on anything. It would be a shame to have your enjoyment diminished by a display issue that will be resolved soon.

The smearing/scrolling issue is exactly what I'm worried about. Thank you for the input and I'm going to hold off until 16.2 drops before updating..
