Does such a thing exist ?

Officially.

what are you suggesting? that people JUST rent out their home theater and have strangers walk though their house to get to it while they are still living there? I can see why renters might want it, not sure I can see the appeal as an owner. Especially as home theaters can get LOUD. lol.

That's an interesting idea, but how would such a thing work? You can already go rent audiovisual gear if you need to use it temporarily—so that exists, idk if that's what you're talking about though.

To rent a home theater—like renting a room in a house that's designed as one—I'm also unsure how that would work, unless it was a separate studio/garage/whatever that's detached from the main property.

Can you rent any audiovisual gear easily?

If you're in or close to a decent sized city, there are absolutely companies that will rent you a projector and screen. Speakers if you need them. And potentially labor to set everything up if you need it. You will probably also need to secure and pay for insurance to cover any damage in addition to rental/labor costs.

as others have suggested, you may also be able to rent out a screen in a movie theater.

another option might be a local hotel with event spaces, most will have an A/V department, and may have projectors and screens in their in-house inventory, or will know where to get them.

none of these are going to be especially cheap, if budget is a concern, you can buy a decent projector for a few hundred bucks, or a medium to fair projector for under 200, maybe under 100.
