I installed Yosemite yesterday and enabled Airdrop so that everyone can discover the MacBook. On the iPhone 5s (ios 8.02) I enabled AirDrop for Everyone.

OK, so I can see my iPhone in Finder's Airdrop window, and I can drag a photo there to send it to the phone.

But when I try to share a photo from the phone to the MacBook, I don't see any device when I click the AirDrop icon, so I can't send from my phone to the MacBook.

Another odd thing: My phone shows up as the silhouette of a head in Yosemite Airdrop - I've seen videos where devices show up with a proper contact photo.

Any suggestions?

Ta.

I tried to "airdrop" between my MacBookPro ( Yosemite) iPhone 6 plus. I'm able to transfer photos between two devices no problem, except on my MacBookPro they go directly to "download" folder. However, I was unable to transfer *.mov file from my MacBookPro to iPhone 6 plus. In the beginning, everything is going smooth the file transfer dielog appears on iPhone. But after transfer is complete I can locate *.mov file in my iPhone anywhere.

I tried to restart iPhone look at different location but "no joy". Anyone knows what the problem is?

Following some suggestions that I found on the web, my problem was resolved by logging out of iCloud on my iPhone, then logging back in again. Belt & braces, I did the same thing with the MacBook Pro afterwards.

Now, Airdrop Sharing from my iPhone works as expected - the MacBook shows up OK on the iPhone, complete with my contact photo.

Does AirDrop between iPhone and MacBook Pro require Bluetooth 4.0? 2010 MacBook Pro and iPhone 6 here. Neither show up under AirDrop.

I have a problem that it's really hit and miss between my MBA 2013 and my iPhone 5S and iPad Air. mBA may see the iPad, the iPad may see the iPhone or some variation on that but nothing stable and reliable. Madness

Same issue here, Nothing was noticing anything. The iMac would not see the IPAD or the Iphone and the Iphone would not see the IPad. I tried the login in and out and that fixed the IPad and Iphone seeing each other, but iMac on Yosemite is still not seeing the Idevices.
