I would ask you if there is any way to make these features work. It irritates me terribly, that Apple highlighted integration between iOS and OS X so much, but most of features, in witch I am interested mostly, are not working (maybe except SMS relay, where I have no complaints. Phone Call relay works too but I don't use it). I have tried to restart, turn off both Mac and iPhone in various combinations. Same with loggin out and in into iCloud, unforunately without effect. HandOff works with active bluetooth, without necessity to pair devices, which does not work anyway. If it is comes to Instant HotSpot, so it detect my iPhone on Mac under the righ section (Personal hotspot, it shows active cellular data mode, range and battery) but provided that I have both bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and manually activated hotspot on iPhone, and from what I know only internet connection, Wi-Fi and same iCloud account are required to get it work, without active BT and HotSpot on iPhone. But anyway, I can't connect to this hotspot because of error.

If only I had native SMS relay (I use it really often) on Mavericks, I wouldn't even think and would switch back as fast as I can. This version doesn't bring anything useful, because what I could use doesn't work at all or hangs or crashes. I won't even mention more about battery, which this OS devours so much (4 but max 5h if I'm doing nothing special, when on Mavericks it lasts about 7-8 hours) and about other issues e.g. crashes on safari and iTunes. I would give away this whole new design for good reliability which the previous version has. I even has turned off all these blurry and translucent feature because of lagging animations. It helped a bit, but not completely because even that my over $2000 rMBP (so fu***d) can not handle with Mission Control animation. I would rather expect it from $100 tablet with android.

Any ideas?

instant hotspot has been working perfectly for me on my iPad mini

I'm going to test it on my iPhone 6 this weekend

But do you have activated hotspot on your iPad or it activates itself when connecting on mac?

Can't be much help as my MBP doesn't support Handoff but iTunes, Safari are all very stable, SMS and Phone Continuity work very reliably and my slight battery drain increase was addressed by turning off Transparency.

if I turn on hotspot it connects automatically, is that what you're asking? Btw, I tested it on my iPhone this past weekend and it worked extremely well.
