Airdrop was working perfectly for the last year between an M2 Ventura system (13.6.7) and an older iPhone with iOS 15.8.x. Now the M2 laptop can see the iOS device but the opposite is not working.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried checking on your Mac to make sure AirDrop is set to "Everyone" and not "Contacts only"? In my experience sometimes the setting can get switched and my Mac won't recognise my iPhone to AirDrop to.

Yes I did.

I agree that the settings somehow get switched or not enabled at all (if I use the Control Center to enable Airdrop).

Hmm it is possible there is a software bug but if neither got updated then i couldn't say for sure.

Did you try turning on/off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both the iPhone and Mac, and ensure they are connected to the same network?

Also, are both devices signed into the same iCloud account? Perhaps you can try re-signing into the accounts? I have an iMac that is signed into my Apple ID but not iCloud and AirDrop works intermittently at best with my other signed-in devices.
