I've been experiencing an Airdrop issue for quite a while now. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The issue happens when the MacBook is connected to an external monitor.

When I click Airdrop the airdrop window will popup with the devices available shown. However, you can't click on any of the devices to initiate the transfer.

I found a workaround to be able to click on it. You have to physically open the MacBook, and click on the device from the MacBook display not the external monitor.

Does anyone have this issue and have found a permanent fix?

there
Airdrop is hit to miss,
but with a falser processor, more memory and less metal furniture, AirDrop is excellent.

also newer macs tend to airdrop better with an iPad,
and i need an extra step to receive a file from the 2012 Mac mini to the 2010 MacBook air.
which still works.

If I drop twenty-five files, meaning twenty-five times over several days it will not work about 1 time, so I reboot either the iPhone or the MBP and it works again, perfectly.
