Hello All,

I have a family member who has been having issues with AirDrop on the iPhone 7 Plus. She is currently running iOS 12.1.1, and can receive incoming AirDrop messages but for some reason can’t send them.

We have troubleshooted all the normal possible culprits, set AirDrop to Everyone, sign out and resign into iCloud, restarted the phone and even reset network settings.

Everything we have done still does nothing to solve the issue. She can receive incoming AirDrop messages but can send them out to anyone else.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and if so is there a resolution for this issue?

Have you checked the settings of the person you're trying to Airdrop to? Make sure they are setup to receive All Contacts or Everyone depending on what they are comfortable with. If your family member is not in the other persons contacts and they have Contacts selected to receive, your family member will not be able to Airdrop to them.

We had already tried changing to both of those settings (on both her phone and phones she was trying to send to) and she still can’t send anything through AirDrop. It’s just weird because we can send stuff to her but she can’t send out. She is even part of our family plan and it still won’t work. Never heard of Airplay only working one way (receive but can’t send).
