Ever since introducing the 10 minute limitation in iOS 16.1.1 (China) and iOS 16.2 (rest of the world), it sucked... I understand the reasoning behind the time limit...

If Apple is no longer willing to bring back the option of Everyone without the time limit, then give us an option longer than 10 minutes, like 15, 30, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours at the most...

I find Airdrop a very convenient feature since you don't need to use a cable or connect to a Wi-Fi network before data transfer can begin... You just have to enable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth...

Now, I could be one of the few rare cases that prefer to have a copy of the original photo and video (when someone else with an iPhone/iPad took a photo/video) instead of just downloading it after receiving it from Facebook Messenger, or downloading from a Facebook post...

Because of this, I realized I should have kept my iPad on iOS 15.x and I am now thinking of purchasing a device that is still on iOS 15.x or earlier...

I am missing the point of the question but it is easy to quickly toggle it on. Are you looking to share content for longer than 10 mins? Make use of the new AirDrop features in iOS 17 and you can just hold phones near each other which I think works without the need of the limit.

Also, in iOS 17, AirDrop now completes when you are out of range too.......

It's not really a question but more of a rant...

Prior to the change, you can transfer as many files, photos, videos, with low battery the only limitation... But ever since the 10 minute limitation was introduced, you will have to perform the same task but multiple times so as to fit within the limit...

As I said, I'm one of the few rare cases that uses the Everyone option and prefers original copy instead of saved from Facebook or from Messenger... Why Everyone? You don't always have on your iPhone the contact information of the people that takes photos/videos using their own device...

Not only staying on iOS 15.x [or any older version] is better because of better performance, but also a better version of AirDrop... If I want to use the feature AirDrop over the internet, the Send Anywhere app already transfers via Wi-Fi/mobile data connection on iOS and iPadOS so I don't need that... Why they added that feature? I don't know, change for the sake of change...

As for proximity sharing, it still uses the same setting so the 10 minute limitation is still there...

I’m not saying you don’t have a valid use case, but isn’t this a bit like saying it’s so much easier to move stuff in/out of your house if you just leave the front door open? Like sure, it is, but it’s a better bet to close and lock your door when you’re done.
